Visual merchandising, sculpture, window display, and social media

Arrowleaf Adornments, located in White Salmon, Washington, is a boutique storefront and jewelry studio dedicated to providing a curated, colourful, and uplifting experience to tourists and locals alike. I worked closely with the owner, Sarah, to execute creative displays and create unique visual experiences in a variety of mediums.

Home

Arrowleaf Adornments is a local staple in White Salmon, WA. This small-yet-mighty store contains in-house jewelry, handmade pieces local to the area, thoughtfully selected clothing, and items for the home that are just too good to pass up. As the in-house creative, my job was to help bring the creative vision to reality.

Social Media

As the appointed social media manager, I was tasked with creating a system that felt authentic to the brand, was simple to replicate, and was full of colour!  Products were rotated to ensure the viewer wasn’t seeing too much or too little of any one thing. Jewelry was often photographed in soft lighting, over a wallpapered background to provide an eclectic, maximalist feel. When new clothing pieces would arrive, I modeled the styled sets. The feed as a whole was thoughtfully considered to create a consistent aesthetic.

The majority of engagement stemmed from reel content. This led to the challenge of elevating stationary objects into a motion-based format. I would often create video content of jewelry glistening as the model moved. It can often be difficult to capture the correct lighting of a stone, but departing from the photographic format allowed for more enticing viewership. Exhibitions were often highlighted on the social media page, in reel format, to raise engagement for in-store events.

Storefront display in focus:  The Arrowleaf Balsamroot

To welcome in the spring, Sarah and I brainstormed a new storefront sculpture. Every year around May,  Arrowleaf’s namesake flower is in bloom, and with a myriad of festivals approaching, we needed a refresh! This project was a requirement of balance and multiple stages. I worked back and forth between construction and helping customers find everything they needed. Above is a visual of the making of the petals, using rebar wire, Tyvek, and hot glue.

After two weeks, 85 petals and hundreds of compressed copper pieces, our larger-than-life-sized balsamroot had come to life.

Product displays

As a team, Sarah and I created a variety of visual displays, moving the merchandise in accordance with the season, concept, and exhibitions.  Together, we consistently modified the store layout, brought in fresh new products, and re-conceptualized existing pieces.
